Monte Masi is fascinated by the flood of excessive information we encounter daily — ‘this one weird tip’ chumbox advertising, unreadable images, press releases, algorithmically attractive psychobabble, jargon-filled articles, broken web links. He humorously dismantles these theatres of communication through performance, video and text, reframing the ever-growing cloud of information as a site for fantastical — often farcical — examinations of criticality in our image-saturated, data-driven world.
Everybody’s Dream (had almost come true) / 29 May 2025
Masi's first work, a piece of ‘mime in the expanded field’, saw him joined by a cast of collaborators who joined forces to seek out the chaos in consensus. Riffing on jazz phrasing, stock characters, the fever of big ideas and the thud of failure, they ask us: does everyone having a say mean everyone getting their way?
Gossipy Sphinx / 10 December 2025
Masi's second work, a solo work for voice, bass tones and electroacoustic improvisation, was a charged, humorous and sonically saturated exploration of communication, excess and the strange pressure of saying — and feeling — too much all at once.
